Spring message and update...

Dear Parents of Heartland Soccer Club participants:

Soccer starts NEXT WEEK!   We have 90 players signed up for Rec soccer in Park Rapids, 15 for Rc soccer in Walker, and enough players for 6 Traveling Teams.

Remember the World Cup is taking place in North America this summer, and interest will peak with all games being televised.

We will once a gain have Recreational Programs in Walker (Thursdays) and in Park Rapids (Tuesday and Thursday).   Registration is OPEN for these programs now.

All of our Traveling Teams are single sex teams now.  This year we hope to field the following teams with the following coaches and primary practice locations:

Team                  Coach/Coaches                                                      Primary Practice Location

U-10 Boys      – Coach John Eclov                                                   Walker

U-12 Boys      – Coach Simon Whitehead                                   Walker

U-16/18 Boys - Coach Whitehead                                                 Park Rapids/Walker

U-10 Girls        - Coach Reina Berg                                                 Walker

U-12 Girls        - Coach Samantha Schaeffer                            Walker

U-14/16 Girls - Coach Clayton Burns                                          Walker

Registration for Traveling Teams is now OPEN.  If you sign up for traveling, the expectation is that you make all or most of the practices and play in all or most of the games.  You will have the Red and White Heartland shirts, black shorts and black socks.  If you have them from last year and they still fit - no need to purchase again.  The Heartland Store on our website has these items, plus other Heartland SC gear. The practice schedule has been posted.  The U-16/18 Boys will practice in both Walker and Park Rapids.

With this number of players playing, we need Coaches and Volunteers.  Coaches at the Rec level can be “parent helpers” directing soccer activities and we will train you.  Travel coaches will work with coaching director Simon Whitehead to develop effective training sessions for skills and tactical development.   Volunteers are need in traveling soccer to line fields, man the concessions, help tidy up the fields etc.

The time to register is NOW, so we can plan for a successful upcoming season.  Thanks and lets play soccer!
